Legislation - Unit
Titles Act 1972 - An Act to facilitate the subdivision of land
into units that are to be owned by individual proprietors, and common
property that is to be owned by all the unit proprietors as tenants
in common, and to provide for the use and management of the units
and common property.
2008 Unit Titles Bill 212-1 - Since 1972, when the Act first
came into force, there have been major changes in the nature of
property developments in New Zealand and the Act has therefore
become out-dated.
This link takes you to the draft of the Unit Titles Bill
based on policy decisions
that were made by Cabinet in late 2006 and subsequent submissions. When this is
completed the Bill will be tabled in Parliament and sent to a Select
Committee for examination.
